McCain ready to make history
Republican presidential nominee, John McCain, has countered opposition doubt over his credibility by declaring that America is ready to elect its first disabled president.
As well as being beyond retirement age, McCain is unable to lift his arms above shoulder height due to the after effects of being tortured by the Viet Cong for five years.

If elected, the Arizona Senator would become the first disabled person in American history to take residence in the Whitehouse.

"I am running...or rather ambling...for the Whitehouse, and I aim to become this country's first disabled president come November", said McCain to Fox News.

"My frail heart is well and truly in this campaign, and, should I still be alive and well this winter, I'll win that damn election!"

Meanwhile, the 2008 presidential election has been criticized by sections of the media for dissolving into "nothing more than an exercise in political correctness", following the respective successes of a black man, a woman and a disabled senior citizen.

"Voters now have to vote for what is politically correct, rather than what is politically sound" said News anchor, Keith Olberman. "It makes me sick".
