Mugabe: Let's have a show of hands
Robert Mugabe has called for the ongoing Zimbabwe elections to be resolved by a nationwide hand vote, the Daily Fortnight has heard.

In a speech given to supporters of his ZANU PF party, Mugabe said such a vote would speed up the election process and help him see who is voting for the opposition.

"I call on the electoral commission to implement this hand voting system immediately", said Mugabe. "Let us put last week's joke of an election behind us and start again. No more lost ballot sheets, no more stalling, no more excuses".

Mugabe's main presidential rival Morgan Tsvangirai dismissed the idea as "ludicrous", saying it would only cause "chaos at polling stations and result in electoral fraud on the grandest scale". However, Mugabe was quick to hit back at the MDC Leader by insisting that voter fraud would be "highly improbable" due to the presence of Mugabe's hand picked guards. "My military will certainly be present at each round of hand voting, just to make voters understand who they're voting for", said Mugabe.

"As for crowd trouble, you can be sure that anyone causing a ruckus will be shot on sight...particularly if they fail to wear the pretty colours of ZANU PF".
