Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, has been ratifying the terms and conditions of his yearly holiday allowance, to see if extended holiday leave is permissible by the Constitution of Iran, and if so, whether it can be exercised 'sometime in the next year', say sources in Tehran.

President Ahmedinejad was said to have held frantic discussions this weekend with Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in regard to the matter.

One spokesman close to Mr Ahmedinejad said that the President has also been comparing prices between web-based holiday makers, Expedia and Lastminute.com, suggesting that his holiday leave may already have been granted.

The same spokesman said that President Ahmedinejad, who has also been busy defending his country's nuclear policy to the United Nations, was 'conscious of a tough, upcoming workload involving the military' and so 'needs to get away for a bit.'
