Oblivious to the missed opportunity
World Scrabble
Champion Nigel Richards says he is just
looking forward to the next game after missing a golden chance to
spell the word 'fuck' on live TV last
night.
The opportunity fell to Richards with
just four tiles to go in a pulsating game against Ganesh Asirvatham.
"For some reason my brain was telling me to just go for the points and so I executed the word 'foxy' for 34", said Richards. "It's just something I'll have to live with I suppose".
Asirvatham, who won the match 412-398, believes Richards should have played the four letter profanity, if only to get the crowd on his side.
"Knowing now what letters he had, I would have gone with it", said Asirvatham. "These games are so rare and the chance to spell 'fuck' on live TV is even rarer. I just hope Nigel bounces back, because he's still a quality player".
