Recent research by the British Medical Association has discovered that people formerly thought to be fat, huge, whalelike or obese are in actual fact suffering from a genetic disorder causing them to grow sideways.
While the majority of the healthy population experience an increase in height, people suffering from the disorder grow horizontally creating an impression of extended width.
The news comes just after the publication of an article by the BBC entitled ‘why do some of us hate fat people so much?’ Speaking today to a Bariatric Solutions seminar the chairman for the Width Disorder Research Group said he hopes that these findings will lead to a greater understanding of ‘wide’ people and a greater tolerance.
Official figures indicate that 60% of the adult population is overweight and 26% are obese. In light of the British Medical Association findings these figures will now be examined and re-evaluated. It is expected that new statistics will conclude that none of the population are overweight and that apparently wider people are simply growing sideways and should be allowed to take up 2 seats on crowded public transport, block fire exits and obscure the cinema screen.
